Kynance Cove, The Lizard. A good starting place for looking for choughs. Walk south along the coast.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Since April 2002 the Group has been very involved with the Cornwall Project "The Safe Return of the Choughs" which is a partnership between the RSPB, English Nature, the National Trust and Defra. Many of our members have been taking part in the 24 hour per day vigilance at the nest sites on the Lizard during the critical weeks in each Spring from 2002 through to 2007. This help is essential at times of low tide.

The breeding success story is now well known and documented. We have been proud to help. Do come along and see what has been happening at Lizard Point.

During the winter months, our members make regular visits to the Lizard  to locate the choughs and to identify them from their colour-coded leg rings. This enables the pattern of their behaviour to be recorded.

More effort will be required in the future. Why not come along?

There are now two versions of the Chough lapel badges. Clearly we all should have both!
